The Challenge
Meant to appeal to a wide variety of people, from teens to grandparents and both prospective and long-time members, my client needed a full-color brochure, but only about 100 a year and with an extremely limited budget.
I designed this brochure so that it could be quick-printed in their office at a moment's notice, included a PDF version which had clickable links so that it could be sent via email, and tied it into an email and social media campaign targeting prospective members.
I also wrote it, so I used concise information on all of the activities at the synagogue and detailed the advantages of joining. And even though nearly all religious institutions around the country have had declining membership, the year I was in charge of their communication this synagogue had a marked increase in membership, which continued the entire time I was there.
Since people love seeing other people, I made sure to include big colorful photos of the happy congregation. most of which I took, to show prospective members just how exciting membership could be and confirm for long-time members what a great place they belonged to.
