The Challenge
When I was hired to design this book, targeted to the 'tween market, it was already woefully behind schedule: it needed to go to print in three weeks!
Not only that, but each of the 70+ spreads needed a different layout, and the book needed a ton of extremely specific illustrations and photos to support the text.
Fortunately I have years of experience in working on young adult books: I designed each spread, and was able to quickly illustrate a lot of the ideas using a trendy infographic style, and worked closely with a researcher to find photos and some stock illustrations to fill in.
Since the publisher loved the layouts and illustrations from the very first draft, I was able to beat the deadline with only text changes along the way.
